Annually, on Sikh festival of Vaisakhi, all Sikhs temples in Coventry, join forces to present a religious procession to mark the monumental events of 1699. On this day – Sikh Guru – Gobind Singh created a Sikh army of baptised Sikhs. The fundamental principle of Sikh religion is selfless volunteering without an expectation of a reward. Plus a concept of langar ie free communal kitchen, food donated and cooked by volunteers and served to the congregation. During the Nagar Kirtan snacks and soft drinks were served to all irrespective of race, creed or religious persuasion. It was a great carnival day atmosphere, specially adapted coach to house Sikh sacred scriptures, hymn singers and a volunteer gave religious offerings all. Enjoy being part of this great day.

Karam, you might wish to consider a photo blog so that people don’t have to go to another site to view the pictures.
I will set up a photo blog one of these days.
Though I would not call myself religious, I always feel touched when I sit down on a floor mat to have langar at a gurdwara. On one occasion, there was a man who made his living mending shoes on my right, and the president of a bank on my left. At the point of time, all of us were equals, and were seved the same food with equal felicity by the sewadar boys and girls. All of us later washed our plates before handing them over. What a wonderful way to reinforce that in the eyes of God we are all equal!
THANK FOR YOUR WORK.
Did you find the name of this church? If so, can your share it?
Thanks,
Chris
